Company Vision Drives Successful Adoption of Adaptive Flash and All Flash Arrays

San Jose, Calif. – November 10, 2016 – Nimble Storage (NYSE: NMBL), the leader in predictive flash storage, today announced that it has been positioned furthest on the visionary axis in the Leaders quadrant of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for General-Purpose Disk Arrays[1]. The report analyzes hybrid and solid-state arrays (SSAs) that support storage area network (SAN) and network-attached storage (NAS) protocols. This is the second consecutive year Nimble has been placed in the Leaders quadrant. To date, over 9,000 enterprises and cloud service providers rely on the Nimble Predictive Flash platform to underpin their critical business applications.

The Predictive Flash platform combines All Flash arrays and Adaptive Flash arrays into a single architecture that accelerates applications while lowering the cost of storage ownership. However, fast flash alone is inadequate since the majority of application disruptions stem from complexity of the infrastructure stack. By leveraging cloud-based predictive analytics to monitor customer-deployed infrastructure, the Predictive Flash platform delivers unmatched operational simplicity, infrastructure availability and cross-stack visibility.

“Given enterprise priorities to simplify IT infrastructure and minimize costs, we believe that complex storage solutions from legacy vendors are no longer competitive. Their lack of innovation is creating a significant share shift opportunity. At the same time, younger storage companies do not have the breadth of functionality of our Predictive Flash platform,” said Suresh Vasudevan, CEO, Nimble Storage. “With the most advanced use of predictive analytics and machine learning capabilities in the industry we have fundamentally changed the game. InfoSight Predictive Analytics is not something other vendors can easily replicate or bolt-on. We believe it will take other vendors years to match the level of operational simplicity we can offer enterprises today.”

Nimble developed a strategy to leverage big data and machine learning to optimize customers’ environments. By doing so, the company enables infrastructure that operates flawlessly, informs IT teams when something is about to go wrong, and prevents problems from occurring in the first place. The Predictive Flash platform gives IT teams radical simplicity, a transformed support experience and ease of scalability.

Continued Success with the Nimble All Flash Array (Solid-State Array)

In building the Nimble AF-Series All Flash array, the company went back to first principles and spent more than two years architecting a system that could take advantage of the latest and future flash innovations, while simultaneously addressing the limitations present in other all-flash arrays. This year, Nimble introduced an All Flash array that is a generation beyond competitive offerings. Since its introduction in February 2016, the AF-Series has been purchased by more than 200 customers. More than half of the All Flash customers are “new to Nimble” customers, and a majority also leverage Adaptive Flash arrays.

The rapid adoption of the Nimble Storage All Flash array is attributed to the unparalleled differentiators Nimble can deliver including absolute performance, superior scalability and non-stop availability, at a total cost of ownership (TCO) that is up to 33 to 66 percent lower than competitive arrays.

The All Flash arrays round out the Nimble portfolio of Predictive Flash arrays – all of which are supported by InfoSight Predictive Analytics.
